Birth is such a personal space, and you should feel completely comfortable with whoever is in the room with you.

This applies to both the Full Birth Story and the Flexible Birth Story — I don’t take on bookings without meeting first.

Birth is one of those moments that feels impossible to fully hold onto.

You’re in it — focused, overwhelmed, present — and so much of what happens around you goes unseen in the moment.

Having your birth story captured means you can come back to it later.

The small moments, the support around you, the strength you carried through it — all the things that might otherwise blur with time.

I usually come in once labour is established (active labour), and stay through birth and those first couple of hours after.

Every birth is different, so we’ll chat beforehand about what feels right for you and the kind of story you’d like captured.

This is completely up to you.

Some families want everything documented, while others prefer a more modest approach focused on connection, emotion, and the overall story.

We’ll talk through your preferences beforehand so you feel completely comfortable.

If there isn’t enough natural light, then yes — I do use flash.

You’re investing a meaningful amount into this, and I want to make sure your images are clear, crisp, and true to the moment. Birth spaces can be very dark, and sometimes a soft, controlled flash is the best way to achieve that.

If you’re unsure or prefer not to use flash, I’m always happy to show you examples of both so you can decide what feels right for you.

I’ll always ask for your permission before sharing anything, and you’re completely free to say no — your privacy is always respected.

Yes — it’s always best to let your midwife or doctor know in advance.

I’m very mindful of working respectfully within the space and alongside your care team, and I’ll never interfere with their role.

For full birth story clients, you’ll keep me updated as things progress and I’ll come in when it’s time.

Birth can be unpredictable, and while every effort is made to be there, there are rare occasions where baby decides to arrive before I’m able to get there in time.

If that happens, we’ll talk through the options together — whether that’s capturing those early hours after birth or arranging an alternative session.

I’m a very easy, down-to-earth person and always happy to chat things through with you so we can find what feels right.

This depends on the hospital and your care team.

Some allow photographers in theatre, others don’t — but either way, I’ll still be there to document before and after, so your story is still captured.

As soon as you feel like this is something you’d love.

I take on a limited number of births each month so I can be fully present and available, so dates can fill quickly.

If you’ve chosen the Flexible Birth Story, this is something to keep in mind.

When labour begins, you can reach out and I’ll let you know if I’m available at the time. If I am, I’ll come in and capture your birth story.

If I’m already attending another birth, I won’t be able to make it — and this is something to be aware of when choosing this option.
