After years of moving at a fast pace, relocating to Australia gave me a once in a lifetime pause.

Space to slow down, space to look honestly at the work I was doing, and admit that it no longer felt like the future I wanted for myself.

I found myself wanting to photograph real life. The everyday moments that are often dismissed as mundane, even though they are fleeting and the memories blur faster than we realise. I wanted to document families as they were, without expectations or performance. People do not often catch themselves in those in-between moments. Just being. In a world that rarely slows down long enough for us to notice.

Mothers especially do not stop to document the mum bun, the washing piled high, the missed deadlines, the full days that hold everything together. We wait for the right time, the right version of ourselves, the right moment to press pause, and while we are waiting, life keeps moving.

I know this because she is me.

My children grew while I kept shifting the to-do list to the next page.

The birthday I meant to film was over before the camera came out.

Those busy moments are our prime.

The juggling. The quiet pauses sitting in the car. The silent tears over dropped eggs.

The moments that remind us we are human, and that mothering is hard. And often, almost all the time, it can be deeply therapeutic to look back and see the strength you were holding, simply by showing up.

I want women to have something to look back on and say, hey, look at me.

Look what I created. Look who I was. Look at what I carried.

That work naturally led me to birth, because birth holds so much of what it means to be human.

Joy, fear, exhaustion, relief, uncertainty, love.

Sometimes it is gentle. Sometimes it is heavy. Sometimes it is both.

Capturing not how it looked, but what it took.

Being able to sit alongside those moments, even when they do not match the imagined or planned version, and document them honestly can be powerful, and at times, healing.

There is no right way to birth, and no outcome that makes someone more or less.

I am there to witness, not to shape the story. To hold space and preserve it, exactly as it was.

This is where my creativity belongs. Rooted in the wellbeing of women, in birth, love, family, strength, and the village it takes to carry it all.
